Meat Raffle
The Knights of Columbus, Council 488 will hold a Meat Raffle on Saturday, April 25th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 582 Bedford Street. Light refreshments will be available.

Middle School Movie Night

The Edge Youth Group will sponsor a middle school movie night this Friday night, April 24th, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. This is a free event and will be held at St. Basil's Chapel (BSC Catholic Center) located at 122 Park Avenue in Bridgewater and is open to all middle school children.

Big Ryan to Visit Bridgewater Public Library
On Saturday, April 25th, Big Ryan, a popular children's storyteller, will visit the Bridgewater Public Library. The public is invited to attend this program which will feature original stories, puppet play, a bit of music and movement and a whole lot of fun. The program is appropriate for children ages 3-11 and no registration is needed.
This is a free program and begins at 11:00 AM. The event is funded by the Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library.

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Fundraiser

There will be a fundraiser for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on April 25th at the Knights of Columbus in Bridgewater. The night will feature a great band playing, raffles, food and lots of fun. Tickets are $20.00 and they can be purchased in advance or at the door.

Bridgewater Police Association Fundraiser
Your donations in the past have made it possible for the Association to help start and continue to run local scholarships, youth programs and social and civil groups that have requested our support. The success of these and many more programs are a direct result of your contributions. We understand with the current Town, State and Federal financial crisis, you may not be able to contribute or you may only be able to contribute a small amount. We appreciate any and all contributions no matter how small. We also fully understand if you are unable to make a contribution at this time.

A Sense of Wonder
A new movie about Rachel Carson’s life, A Sense of Wonder, will be shown at First Parish Church in Bridgewater (50 School Street – between Hunt Hall and the Art Building) on Thursday April 16 at 7pm. Hunting and Fishing Licenses Available
The 2009 Hunting and Fishing Licenses are available for sale in the Town Clerk's office. In order to purchase one you must present the following before a 2009 license can be issued:
-A previous year hunting/sporting license (any state)
As of January 1, 2007 new legislation required first time hunting or sporting license buyers to produce a certificate showing they have passed a basic hunter education course. For office hours and further information please call 508-697-0921.

Bridgewater Resident Walking for Breast Cancer Research
Bridgewater resident Kelly Carter will be completing in this year's Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. This 39.3 mile, 2 day walk serves as a fundraiser to assist in breast cancer research. Kelly is required to raise $1800.00 as a participant in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and Around the Common asks our readers to consider donating to this important cause.

Town Government Study Committee Forum
The Town Government Study Committee (TGSC) with be hosting a public forum at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Center on Tuesday, April 7th. They have invited the Franklin Town Manager (Jeff Nutting), who is also President of the Massachusetts Municipal Association, to come and present information on Franklin's Council-Manager Form of Government (FoG).
Since th TGSC is recommending this FoG for Bridgewater, we wanted to offer citizens the opportunity to understand how this FoG operates in a Massachusetts Town that is similar in size to Bridgewater. Citizens will also be able to ask specific questions of Mr. Nutting.
