Town Accountant, Town of Bridgewater

The town of Bridgewater is seeking a highly qualified professional to fill the full-time position of Town Accountant. Appointed by and serving under the direction of the Town Manager, with ratification of appointment by the Town Council, the Town Accountant acts as the chief financial officer for the town and is responsible for maintaining and controlling all town expenditures and financial records, as well as revenue forecasting and documentation. The position requires extensive knowledge of municipal accounting, Massachusetts municipal finance laws, and thorough understanding of the Uniform Municipal Accounting System (UMAS), GAAP and GASB regulations. The position also requires a customer service oriented individual with excellent communication skills. CGA certification and experience with WTI Financial Software System preferred. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related fields; five to seven years of responsible experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Starting salary is $74,589, plus competitive benefit package.
