Bridgewater Citizens for Gun Safety

Bridgewater Citizens for Gun Safety to Hold its Third Meeting

The ad hoc citizen’s group addressing gun safety in the wake of the Newtown, CT tragedy will hold its third meeting on Wednesday February 13 at the First Parish Church, 7 PM.

Bridgewater, MA Thursday February 7, 2013: An ad hoc citizens group of gun owners, gun safety proponents and others concerned with the issues of guns, violence prevention and safety will meet for the third time on Wednesday February 13, 2013 at the Parish Hall of the First Parish Church at 50 Church Street in Bridgewater. The group, still in its formative stages, invites all citizens to participate in this important discussion.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the group will make decisions on its Mission Statement and name as well as discussing ways it can be most helpful to the Community. At prior meetings, the group has discussed taking a Public Health approach rather than a Public Safety approach to the problem. In the past, groups using Public Health approaches have had excellent impacts in helping citizens re-focus the public good on issues such as drunk driving and smoking. The group hopes for well-balanced, reasoned discussions and welcomes all who wish to participate. For more information, contact Betty Gilson at or 774-226-0942.
