GBWOT Celebrates Birthday Wishes and Plans for Lemonade Stand

Greater Bridgewater Women of Today held a pool party on Sunday, July 14th for members and friends in honor of the Birthday Wishes Foundation. Birthday Wishes is a non-profit foundation that provides birthday parties for homeless children.

GBWOT wants to encourage future generations to give back. In keeping with that goal, children of GBWOT members were invited to participate with each child bringing a birthday present and wrapping paper to donate to the Birthday Wishes Foundation.

GBWOT member Carrie Sheehan hosted the event at her home and member Nicole Schneeweis organized the event for the group. Schneeweis thanked the children attending the event and reminded them, “we are all so blessed and fortunate to have great birthday parties where we celebrate with friends and family on our special day. Wit h your help today, we are helping to make sure that children whose families don’t have the resources that we have, will have a great birthday too! “ For more information on the Birthday Wishes Foundation visit: www.birthdaywishes.org

GBWOT is a volunteer organization that performs community service, raises funds to support local and national charities, and fosters friendships. On Friday, July 26th the group will be donating a pizza lunch and waters (provided by Market Basket) to approximately 15 workers who will be building a playground near the softball field on Crescent Street. The Snelgrove Foundation donated the play structure to the Bridgewater Girls Softball Association.

GBWOT will also be holding a Lemonade Stand and Bake Sale at Winter Place in Bridgewater on Saturday, August 3rd from 10-noon. A portion of the proceeds from the stand will benefit The Jamasi School Project and the remainder will go towards GBWOT’s Family in Need Fund.

The Group uses the Family in Need Funds to donate back to local families experiencing hardships. GBWOT also has plans for several restaurant fundraisers throughout the month of August, to add to their Family in Need Fund.

Please consider attending the group’s future events and help the group give back to Bridgewater and the surrounding communities. GBWOT meetings are open to the public and are held on the third Monday of the month. The next meeting is Monday, August 19th at 7 p.m. For meeting location in Bridgewater please email: greaterbridgewaterwot@yahoo.com For more information on the group visit: www.mawt.org/gbwot or visit them on Facebook.
