September Events at the Bridgewater Public Library

In the Glass Case: A display of articles and photos of Helen Cassiani Nestor, local WWII heroine and the subject of Bridgewater’s One Book One Community choice: We Band of Angels by Elizabeth Norman. September through mid-November.

Wednesday, September 4: Registration for karate/self-defense begins today, which will be held on Monday, September 16 at 4:30 p.m.


Friday, September 6 @ 10:30-11:30 a.m.: Triumph Inc.’s “Read Together, Grow Together” Drop in Story Time. Ages 4-5. Siblings welcome! No registration required!


Monday, September 9
: Story Times are offered in 6 week sessions. These sessions are offered in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Please call the Children's Room at 508-697-3331 if your child will be absent for any reason. If your child is absent twice without the Children's Room being notified we will assume you are withdrawing from the session and your child's slot will be offered to someone on the waiting list.

Tuesday, September 10 @ 6:00-8:00 p.m.: Pastel painting working presented by award-winning artists Gregory Maichack. Ages 16 and up.The workshop is now FULL


Friday, September 13 @ 10:30-11:30 a.m.: Triumph Inc.’s “Read Together, Grow Together” Drop in Story Time. Ages 4-5. Siblings welcome! No registration required! 

Monday, September 16 @ 4:30-5:15 p.m.: Karate/self-defense will be held today. This program requires registration, which begins on September 4. This program is offered to ages 7-9.

Monday, September 16 @ 7:00 p.m.: Join us for Elephant Rescue, a lively discussion and power-point presentation about the care and feeding of endangered elephants, led by Liisa Budge-Johnson, an advocate for the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.

This program is geared toward animal lovers age 7 and up. Older children, teens, and adults are encouraged to attend. 


Wednesday, September 18 @ 10:30-11:30 a.m.: Children of all ages are welcome to read to Jasper, a registered therapy dog. Children are invited to bring their favorite book to read (or share pictures from) or choose one from the library. The Read to a Dog program provides a non-judgmental reading environment. This is a drop-in event.

Thursday, September 19 @10:30 a.m
.: Join us for a story, music and movement brought to us by Embrace the Arts. A drop in program for all ages.

Monday, September 23: Registration for Legos begins. Ages 6+.


Tuesday, September 24 @ 10:15-11:00 a.m.: Preschool Story Time. Ages 4-6 years (children must be able to sit without an adult). Stories, songs, fingerplays and a craft based on a weekly theme. Parents should be aware this is a six week program.

Tuesday, September 24@ 7:00 p.m.: The Bridgewater Public Library, 15 South Street, will host Stephanie Woods, Tuesday, September 24 at 7:00p.m., for a presentation on Himalayan Singing Bowls. Wear comfortable clothing, and it is strongly suggested that you bring some form of eye covering (sleep mask, bandana) to maximize the experience. Each body needs something different. Let your body choose its own healing vibrations from the Himalayan Singing Bowls.

Saturday, September 28 @10:30-11:30 a.m.: Dads and Donuts. Children are welcome to bring an adult role model to Dads and Donuts. Have a donut, make a craft, and don't forget to check out some library books!


Saturday, September 28 @ 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.: Name Your Own Price Book Sale, a fundraiser sponsored by the Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library. (Friends Preview 10-11a.m.).


Monday, September 30 @ 4:30 -5:30 p.m.: Lego club meets. Must be 6+ and registered.
