Established in 1882, the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea is a multifaceted health care facility available to eligible veterans of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Their mission is to provide, with honor and dignity, the highest quality personal health care services to veterans.

This project is an offshoot of the committee’s current reading choice: We Band of Angels by Elizabeth Norman. We Band of Angels is a World War II non-fiction story focusing on Bridgewater native Helen Cassiani, who was among a group of Army nurses in WWII to be captured on the islands of Bataan and Corregidor by the Japanese.

The One Book One Community committee includes Bridgewater State University, Bridgewater Public Library, Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School,Williams Intermediate School, Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library, Bridgewater Senior Center, Raynham Senior Center, and Bridgewater State University Bookstore.
