Military Women Speak Out

Bridgewater’s One Book One Community Committee will sponsor “Military Women Speak Out” on Saturday, October 19th at the Williams Intermediate School, 200 South Street. The public is invited to attend this free program, which begins at 11a.m.

A panel of former military women will speak about the roles and responsibilities of women in the military from WWII to the present day. A question and answer period will follow.

Light WWII themed refreshments will be served.

The One Book Committee will also be collecting personal items at the event, for distribution at the Women Veterans’ Home in Chelsea. This would include items such as shampoo, toothpaste, soaps, hand lotions, etc.

This event is part of the One Book One Community fall program, which focuses on Elizabeth Norman’s non-fiction story of a group of WWII military nurses who were captured and imprisoned by the Japanese: We Band of Angels. One of the “angels” was a Bridgewater resident, Helen Cassiani.

One Book One Community partners include: Bridgewater State University, the Bridgewater Public Library, Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, Williams Intermediate School, Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library, the Bridgewater Senior Center, the Raynham Senior Center, and the Bridgewater State University Bookstore.
