A Blues & Jazz Concert and Dance

Bridgewater’s One Book One Community Committee invites the public to attend “A Blues & Jazz Concert and Dance” event on Sunday, November 2nd from 2-4p.m. at Olde Scotland Links Golf Course, 695 Pine Street, Bridgewater.

The event will feature the music of The Bridgewater State University Jazz Combo.

“A Blues & Jazz Concert and Dance” is part of Bridgewater’s One Book One Community program focusing on Rebecca Skloot’s non-fiction story, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. The book tells the fascinating story of a poor black tobacco farmer whose cells – taken without her knowledge in 1951 – became one of the most important tools in medicine, vital for developing the polio vaccine, cloning, gene mapping, in vitro fertilization, and more. Henrietta’s cells have been bought and sold by the billions, yet she remains virtually unknown.

Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be available.

Current One Book One Community partners include: Bridgewater State University, Center for the Advancement of STEM Education (CASE), Bridgewater Public Library, Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library, and the Bridgewater Senior Center.
