Message from Bridgewater Public Safety

As we are seeing record snowfall totals in such a short time frame, we would like to take a moment to remind you of some important safety tips.

Our highway department has worked around the clock on the snow removal operation and their efforts are to be commended. Their work is ongoing and we certainly appreciate their dedication to the community.

As children return to school this week, it is particularly important to use caution when driving as high snow banks may restrict visibility. Some sidewalks have not yet been cleared, so please be cautious of pedestrians and be sure to clear the snow off of your vehicle before getting on the roadways. Please allow for extra travel time for travel during these conditions.

Be sure to clear the area around the heating vents at your home. When these vents are blocked by snow, they can cause a buildup of carbon monoxide in the home.

If you are able, we would greatly appreciate any help you can provide in shoveling out hydrants in town. In case of fire, the time it takes to clear out a buried hydrant delays our ability to respond.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Thank you.
