Clutter Control II

“Clutter Control II, Several BIG Reasons Why We Buy So Much STUFF!” at the Bridgewater Public Library presented by Dave Downs on March 22nd.

Due to the overwhelming response to the first Clutter Control program we have asked Dave Downs back for his follow up program Clutter Control II.

“We can’t resist bargains, sales, yard sales; we buy and receive gifts we don’t want”, are just a few reasons why we consume twice as much as we did just forty years ago! Americans spend four times as much shopping as Western Europeans! You will learn how advertisers use many techniques such as developing shopping habits, planned obsolescence, slogans, and the use of credit, to motivate people to purchase, purchase, and purchase! You will leave the library recognizing if you are thoughtful about what and why you acquire items, you will start to reverse the tendency to bury yourself in “treasures!”

With his upbeat and unique approach, Dave Downs explores the many reasons that our draws, closets and garages get filled with STUFF. Downs offers helpful hints for managing this difficult problem. Dave uses colorful stories throughout the talk to engage as well as inform the audience. You may recognize a part of yourself in these stories.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater Public Library, is free and open to the public.
