Ousamequin Woman's Club of Greater Bridgewater to Host Banquet

The Ousamequin Woman's Club of Greater Bridgewater will host its 2016 annual banquet on May 2nd ar 11:30 AM at Atina Asian Bistro in West Bridgewater.

Guests are allowed to attend with an advance registration fee of $20. The banquet will feature a buffet and new officers will also be sworn in.

Summer Science Academy


The Summer Science Academy offers one-week science classes for students entering grades 6-12 in the fall of 2016. This unique program allows students to work as scientists and is designed to inspire students about science while providing them with the foundations necessary for further scientific exploration.

Session I runs from July 11-15; Session II runs from July 18-22; Session III runs from July 25–July 29.

The program fee of $400 per week is for classes for students entering grades 6-8. For students entering grades 9-12 the program fee is $490 per week. All applicants are encouraged to apply early, since space is limited. Regular applications are accepted in the order in which they are received and are confirmed on a continuing basis until all the openings are filled. A limited number of need based scholarships are also available.

BR-SEPAC Meeting


The Bridgewater-Raynham Special Education Parents Advisory Council (BR-SEPAC) and Friends of Williams will be holding a meeting for the 2015-2016 school year on Tuesday, May 10th at 6:00 pm. A lecture titled, Ben Speaks. Judy Giovangelo shares her story of powerlessness as a child, raising and losing a mentally ill child to suicide and the journey of reclaiming her life through the power of choice. She brings a message of hope, inspiration, positive psychology, tools to reduce stress and grow emotional resiliency in homes, schools and the workplace and is a voice for change to create a kinder world through empowering others.

The meeting will be held at The Bridge Center, 470 Pine St, Bridgewater, MA. Please register online in advance for free childcare at: http://www.thebridgectr.org. The BR-SEPAC is made up of parents that represent about 850 children with special needs within the Bridgewater-Raynham School district. The BR-SEPAC works collaboratively with the Bridgewater-Raynham Public Schools and Bridgewater-Raynham School Committee to provide support and information for parents, school personnel, and the community about disabilities and the special education process. The Bridgewater-Raynham SEPAC accomplishes this through regular meetings, workshops, presentations, and special events. The meeting is free and open to all. 1796: America’s First Presidential Election



“1796: America’s First Presidential Election” lecture presented by Historian and Professor Gary Hylander on May 10th at 6:30 PM.

With 2016 being a presidential election year, join us as we examine the nation’s first “real” presidential election. After all, no one was going to challenge George Washington for the job. With Washington’s retirement, Federalist John Adams squared off against his former friend and Republican opponent, Thomas Jefferson.

Hylander is currently an independent scholar who specializes as a presidential historian, a pedagogical specialist for the National Endowment for the Humanities and professor of history.

The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater Public Library, is free and open to the public.

Bridgewater Garden Club Tree Planting



On April 29, Arbor Day, the Bridgewater Garden Club will be planting an  "October Red Glory"  Maple tree at Marathon Park on Crescent Street.  This will take place at 4:30 in the afternoon.  Everyone is invited to come help plant the tree.  Trees are so valuable to our lives that we must plant and take care of them.

Preschool Screening and Enrollment


The Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District offers an integrated preschool program designed to serve children between the ages of 3 and 5 with special needs as well as children with typically developing skills.

There will be Preschool Screenings on Tuesday, May 3rd and Thursday, May 5th at the Raynham Middle School located at 420 Titicut Road in Raynham.

The preschool team will assess your child’s pre-academic, speech, language, fine motor, and gross motor skills. Your child must be 3 years old on or before May 3rd. Students who pass the screening are eligible to join the preschool program at the start of our new school year in September. Please note that enrollment is contingent upon space availability.

When arriving at your screening appointment, an original birth certificate with a raised seal must be presented. In addition, the following must be presented as proof of residency:

Bridgewater Garden Club Meetings


The Bridgewater Garden Club will hold the evening meeting on Monday, April 25th at 7:00 PM at the Cole-Yeaton Senior Center in Bridgewater. This meeting will be the President's Evening honoring the past and present Presidents of the Garden Clubs. 

Bill Graham of Beautiful Things in Salem, Masssachusetts will present a floral program that covers floral designs from the grand period of "Downton Abbey."This program incorporates design techniques of the period and the availability of products at that time.

The day meeting will be held on April 27th at 1:00 PM. Cheryl Monroe will present a program to get a gardener ready for their spring and summer gardens.

Happy Spring! Here are some exciting programs and offerings at The Well.

Programs for Adults
  • We continue to offer Saturday Morning Meditation on the first and third Saturday of the month at 8:30am. Join us and experience mindfulness, relaxation, and stress relief.
  • Our Grieving Support Group will run from April 27-May 18, meeting each Wednesday night from 6-7pm. Join us for the whole series or pop in for a session. This support group is open to any who are going through a loss or major transition in life and will offer support and allow you to connect with others who are in a similar season.
  • Becky, our Massage Therapist, is now available Monday through Friday! Contact us to schedule an appointment. One-hour massage is $65, and 30-minute massage is available for $35.
  • We're proud to offer a unique Nutrition Coaching program with Jordan Strobeck, Certified Health Coach. Visit our website for more information and to schedule a phone consult to see if this program is right for you.
  • Latonia is hosting a Journaling Workshop on Saturday, April 30 where you'll create Vision Boards as a way to explore visual art journaling. Click to register.

  • We're hosting an Intro to Meditation class especially for teens on Wednesday, April 20 at 7pm. Teens will have fun while they learn about and experience different types of meditation and the benefits it brings to your mind, body, and spirit.
  • Yogaaahhhhh: Yoga for Teens is offered every Thursday night from 6-7:15. Click to register.
  • Our Anxiety Groups for kids ages 6-14 are now accepting names for the waiting list. Contact us to express interest in being part of this group, led by Sheri DeChellis, our Therapeutic Group Leader who is an experienced School Adjustment Counselor.
  • Our wildly popular Yoga for Kids programs are gearing up for another session! Registration opens Monday, April 11. Our 4-week series allows kids to learn the basics of yoga while having fun with a variety of games that promote health, movement, and wellness. Classes are available for kids ages 5-9 and 9-12.

New Exhibit at Bridgewater Public Library




The Bridgewater Public Library will feature an exhibit of Mixed Media Artwork by Donna Ingemanson in the Flora T. Little Gallery.  The exhibition will be on display during the months of April and May.

Donna Ingemanson is an artist, illustrator, print maker who specializes in lush, richly-colored, textural, painterly pieces with a quirky point of view and a knack for hand lettering and art licensing. She has traveled the world for inspiration and her art is influenced by figurative painting, Japanese pottery, nature and improvisational art. Her work ranges from traditional mediums such as oil & acrylic paints, watercolor & gouache, pastels, crayons, pens & pencils to digital-sometimes in all one piece...Recently Donna has been experimenting with mono-type printmaking which has enabled her to create artwork with a spontaneous and personal viewpoint.

Donna has worked extensively in illustration, art, design, advertising, and art direction and has been involved with a wide variety of clients. Her artwork has an appeal to both children and adults and has appeared on wall decor, puzzles, posters, pillows, books, magazines, merchandise, advertising, textiles, and just about anything you can think of. Many of her original pieces have been featured in shows and galleries throughout the US. 

An Artist Meet and Greet will be held on Saturday, April 30th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The Flora T. Little Gallery is open during regular library hours:  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9a.m.-8p.m.; Thursday 10a.m.-5p.m., Friday, Saturday 10a.m.-2p.m.

Used Book Store at The Bridgewater Public Library



The Bridgewater Public Library now has a Used Book Store!  It is located on the bottom floor and is open to all patrons during open library hours.
Books are constantly rotating, coming and going. The books are in random order on the shelves so you never know what you might find! It is a treasure hunt.

Books are $1.00 (one dollar) each.
Magazines are free.

The used book store is stocked with books donated by the community.
All donations to the library that cannot be put into the collection because they are duplicates or out of date will be put into the book store and all profits from the store will be used for purchasing new books for the Library collection.

Seamus Heaney Literary Spraoi


On Tuesday, April 12th, Bridgewater State University's Maxwell Library and Irish Studies Program will present the inaugural "Seamus Heaney Literary Spraoi", featuring noted Boston poet Fred Marchant. BSU English Professor John Mulrooney will speak during the introductory portion of the program. This free event, inspired by the works of the Nobel Prize winning Irish poet Seamus Heaney, begins at 6p.m. in the library's lecture hall. Light refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

Thursday, April 21 @ 1:00 p.m.:  Come decorate a terra cotta pot, add some soil and seeds and take it home to watch it grow.  This program has limited space and registration is required.  Ages 7+.

Friday, April 22 @ 10:30-11:30 a.m.:  Dig In! With Easton Children’s Museum.  Ages 4-8.  Registration required. Please pre-register by calling Nicole to register at 508-822-5388 ext. 201.  Space is limited!  An adult must participate and/or supervise each child during this event.

Saturday, April 23 @ 10:30-11:30 a.m.: Read to a dog.  Come read to Jasper, a registered therapy dog. Jasper loves to be read to or told stories to.  Show him a book, sit down, and share a book with this friendly dog.  No registration, all ages.

Join South Shore Curling Club for 5 Weeks of Spring Curling


The South Shore Curling Club is having a five-week spring curling season from April 8 through May 6. This is open to:



  • current and past members of the SSCC
  • new curlers who have completed one of our Learn to Curl sessions
  • members of other local curling clubs (whose seasons may have ended)

Curling is at the Bridgewater Ice Arena on Friday nights at 8:40. The cost is $125.
