Race and Policing

The Department of Criminal Justice at Bridgewater State University is hosting a forum on Wednesday, April 12 to address the important topic of race and policing. The event will be held at the Moakley Center Auditorium from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Race and Policing Forum creates an opportunity for community advocates and police executives to work collaboratively to foster increased understanding of the stresses involved with policing and being policed.

Panelists include Chief Superintendent Will Gross of the Boston Police Department, Chief Brian Keyes of the Chelsea Police Department, Chief Joseph Cordeiro of the New Bedford Police Department, Chief Matt Clancy of the Duxbury Police Department and president of the Council on Police Accreditation.

Community representatives include Ms. Dana Rebeiro, Ward 4 councilor of New Bedford; Samuel Williams, senior program Manager for Safe and Successful Youth Initiative, Commonwealth Corp. and IRJ Executive Leadership Board; Jean Belizaire of the Brockton High Point Drug Treatment Center and a youth counselor.
