Bridgewater Hometown Heroes

Bridgewater Hometown Heroes is a military tribute program that salutes Bridgewater residents that have served or are currently serving in all branches of the armed forces. Each banner will be unique and will honor a specific veteran who lived in or is related to someone in our community, past or present. Measuring 24" wide by 48" long, the banners will display his/her photo, name, and branch of service. They will be displayed on street utility poles and other locations throughout Bridgewater for a pre-determined period of time set by our community. The display of these banners will start at the Vet’s Club, then continue along Bedford Street and into the center of town, to the War Memorials, and down Broad Street.

How do you purchase a banner?

The applicant will submit a photograph and text to the committee along with the fee for the banner. The committee will forward the information to the banner firm. When completed the banner will be hung for the “events.” The banner will be returned to the owners upon their request at the completion of the program. We hope that the program will become an annual event.

How much will a banner cost?

The costs vary at this point due to different suppliers and choice and locations of brackets. A double-faced banner with brackets will cost $175. The banner brackets can be used for other programs in town. Individuals can apply for financial assistance by contacting David Moore at 508-294-4216 after completing an application.

Schedule

The program was formally announced in the summer, with a kickoff on Veterans’ Day in November. Display of all the banners will begin prior to Memorial Day 2019.
