Battle of the Bulge at 75

A presentation titled “Battle of the Bulge @ 75” will be given by Historian and Professor Dr. Gary Hylander, PhD at the Bridgewater Public Library on Tuesday, September 10th at 6:30 p.m.
The year marks the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, the last major German offensive of the war. Over the objections of his generals, Hitler ordered a massive counterattack against Allied forces in the area of the Ardennes Forest.

Hitler’s plan was to split the Anglo-American front and to seek a negotiated peace in the West. With over 19,000 Americans killed, the Battle of the Bulge was the largest and bloodiest battle experienced by American forces in all of World War II.

Dr. Gary Hylander, PhD is currently an independent scholar who specializes as a presidential historian, a pedagogical specialist for the National Endowment for the Humanities and professor of history.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater Public Library, is free and open to the public.
