Getting the Most of Your DNA Test Results

Please join us at the Old Bridgewater Historical Society for a lecture on “Getting the Most of Your DNA Test Results” presented by Richard Reid. The program is scheduled for Sunday, October 6th at 2:00 p.m.

The speaker will provide an overview of what all the DNA tests seek to accomplish. The audience will learn how to read and utilize the results from many popular DNA testing companies. There are many tests out there, and each has partners that will help you match up with cousins and ancestors. Throughout the presentation Richard will use examples that are in his family tree and show how you can expand, verify and document your own tree.

Presented by Richard Reid, director of the Friends of Irish Research, which is based in Brockton, MA. The Friends provide training seminars, host a website full of research resources and provide consultations in the Brockton facility or via email. Richard has worked in the computer industry and taught in high schools, trade schools, and colleges for over 30 years. He has co-authored four computer books, and established several computer training centers in New England. He is an active member of AMG, MSOG, MGC, APG, NEAPD, PCGI, and the Cape Breton Genealogical and Historical Association. In addition to the computer and genealogical work, Richard also pastors a Baptist Church in Brockton.

Light refreshments will be provided. Event is free and open to all. Donations are appreciated.
