Old Bridgewater Historical Society Lecture Announced

The Old Bridgewater Historical Society and New England Curiosities will host a lecture at the Bridgewater Senior Center on Sunday, November 17 th , entitled New England Witchcraft Tales.
Everyone knows the stories of the Salem witches, but have you ever heard the tales of the
others accused of witchcraft in New England? The public is invited to hear the stories that may not be so familiar, including tales from Maine to New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Some of Roxie’s stories even pre-date the Salem hysteria. The presentation will also highlight the correlation of some New England place names to old witchcraft tales, and the evolution of superstitions and customs relating to New England witchcraft.

The lecture will be presented by Roxie Zwicker, who has been sharing history and folklore of the New England states since 1994. Her tour and event company, New England Curiosities, has brought her all over the northeast. She is the author of seven books on New England folklore and she has been featured on the Travel Channel and the History Channel.

The event will take place at the Bridgewater Senior Center, 10 Wally Krueger Way, Bridgewater. Free parking is available.

Light refreshments will be served. Event is free; although a $5 donation to OBHS is suggested. Tickets will also be available for the evening’s raffles.
